Quick One …
Whew! I feel like I’ve been through centuries and back!
I know it’s been a while I posted here, not because there are no thoughts to share, or articles to publish, but I’ve been in the place of waiting. Waiting on the Lord to see what He shall speak to me.
When I decided to swallow my fears sometime in March, I decided I’ll start updating a blog with thoughts given to me to steward, the Lord told me something I’ll never forget. He said ‘even if I’m the only one who would ever read your blog, DO IT for my sake’.
This has not been about showing my intellectual or writing prowess, it has been about a FLOW. This is about the flow of divine life through the writings here. I want you to see something real, connect to a greater reality than the present, and deliberately take steps in walking with Papa too. If that happens, I am blessed.
Oh well…. plenty stories already, and I haven’t started on the thought I want to share!
So help me God. Amen.
Today’s Gist….
I’ve been studying the book of Joshua for some weeks now, and I’ve been awed over and over again at the depth, height, length and breadth of God’s goodness! His level of participation in the life of man is wow!
However, a core message in the book of Joshua that has impacted me strongly is COURAGE.
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
It occurred to me that if obeying the commandments of the Lord is a big deal to us, then we need to pay attention to being courageous.
I believe we are in that season when the commandment of the Lord to be courageous must ring loud and clear in our hearts.
Courage in the context of obedience is not a ticket to impulsiveness. Courage as commanded by the Lord is to live everyday in obedience to His heart, while we keep Him as our primal focus, regardless of what we see or do not see.
Courage is not rooted in yourself, courage is the response of a heart that has seen and been with the Lord. When we open our hearts to the revelation of God’s greatness, and we see the authority of His Name over ALL, our hearts are strengthened to trust the Lord with all our hearts, and to lean on His word.
Our greatest treasure is the PRESENCE OF GOD. Because God is with us, the scales are tipped in our favour, to the glory of His name. But we must deliberately invest ourselves in waiting on Him.
Those who know their God are those who wait on Him. They hear the voice of His mouth, and they can discern the stirring of His heart.
The men of valour in our day are those who hear the Lord and they TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD.
Holding on to His word would sometimes lead you in the paths of risk, paths devoid of sense, and against your comfort zone.
I once heard a preacher say “you have been anointed to take courageous decisions”. Every mountain bows at the Name of Jesus, but we must be internally positioned to see the victory of the Lord.
I believe we have come to that place where we would see a lot of Jordan rivers overfilled to its banks, but only the courageous who believe in the Name of of the Lord, whose hearts have been arrested by the revelation of His greatness, would cross over on dry ground.
May your hearts be filled with knowledge of the glory of the Lord. May you be strengthened to take bold steps of obedience to God. May your hearts be helped to dream dreams , and your feet tingled to move to the drumbeats of a Fearless God.
The Lord is our God. He is exalted above the nations, and our hearts believe all He has said to us.
You have been ordained to live an exceptional life, let every fear bow in His presence. Amen!
Omo Oba.
