That truth has been one of the major anchors that has helped to keep my heart in a place of Trust in God, against all odds. It has also helped to keep me on the journey when I get to points beyond reasoning.
If you will walk with God without offence, and fully see the fruit of walking with that Good Father, you need to agree with this Truth now – God is Spirit.
What does that mean? He is not subject to you. He is not ruled by circumstances, you can’t box him in. Yes, his character is consistent in truth, but you don’t get to call the shots when it comes to how his character and wisdom play out .
And…. just because he told you something that you heard it in your language, does not mean you understood the intent of his heart completely. The depth of his heart makes dependence on him non-negotiable.
No, God is not confusing, God is Spirit. Meaning, when the chips are down, and everything offends your senses – God is Spirit.
When he tells you to kill your Isaac one minute, and he swears to deal with you if you dare to touch him the next minute – God is Spirit.
When he calls you his friend, but he waits 4 extra days after you die before showing up to raise you from the dead – God is Spirit.
You thought he would show up and it seemed like he didn’t – God is Spirit.
You had a theological standpoint for years, and you saw God show up in diverse ways based on that , only for him to come and tell you years later – it’s time for you to revise that standpoint – God is Spirit.
God is Spirit. His coordinates are not rooted or governed by earthly circumstances, neither is he influenced by heaven, he influences heaven.
I am not trying to paint the picture of a complex God, who will always be beyond your comprehension. I am trying to help your heart to be in a place of awe, reverence and holy fear, of this being whose next step you cannot define, whose moves cannot be tracked without his permission, and the depth of your comprehension of his ways is subject to the boundaries of understanding defined for you per season.
A being who sets and breaks precedence, yet remaining consistent in his character.
We should fear a God who does whatever pleases him(Psalm 115:3).
This attribute of God should also give you rest. Nothing is impossible for God. His understanding is limitless, and his wisdom unsearchable. The true definition of Wonder, who makes every artistic masterpiece to pale in comparison to his beauty. He gives meaning to splendour and defines your perspective of majesty.
His dreams are not absurd, neither are they weird, they are simply the expressions of the innate conversations of a being whose essence exceeds time and the fabric of creation. He dwells in himself and nothing exists outside of him.
The next time he tells you about a 100 year old man becoming the Father of nations, you better believe him, or when he invites you to take a walk across the ocean, please tag along.
Peradventure,you find yourself in an impossible situation? Call him, batman can’t hold a candle to him.
Most importantly, the next time you find yourself in a situation that your senses cannot comprehend….TRUST HIM.
His dreams are achievable. His desires towards you are Good. His adventures are full of life. His decisions are wise, though unfathomable at some point, but the end is to do you Good.
Journeying with God is the greatest adventure you will ever embark on, while you are on this side. And while you are at it….make sure you never forget this….
GOD IS SPIRIT.
